People everywhere confuse what they read in newspapers with news.

August 2009

Wow! It's been quite a week. The Move In Day water bottles, Activities Fair and Newman BBQ were a huge success. Much of this was thanks to the Spalding Council Knights of Columbus, the Heading Ave Franciscans, the Third Order Franciscans, Waugh Foods and Alwan and Sons for their help and donations. Marcus Alouan, Brad Colvis and Steve Swanson also stopped by that day to give a hand with the BBQ. Thank goodness because we had 650 people come through for hotdogs and burgers. Thanks to everyone. Newman's Welcome Week is about to come to a close, but that doesn't mean we have any more time to rest! People are already starting to settle into the Newman Center and the rest of the year is chock full of fun events and we want to see everyone there. This weekend will be the campout, next weekend is the pool party, and on and on and on. A couple of new things this year as well. We are starting both a Knights of Columbus College Council and a Women's Discernment Group, both of which have very promising starts. Along with the new look to our website, our newsletter will be getting a facelift as well, be on the look out for that! See you around everyone!

July 2009

Hello Everyone! Along with some other changes that have happened this year, this new website is one of them. I hope that this new design brings a bit more coherence to the website along with better usability. One of the first things you'll see on the homepage is the next couple upcoming events. This section will change weekly so that you can always be informed.

Below that, in this section, will be a sort of blog. It won't always be written by me and I hope to involve everyone in this section. If you have something you would like to "publish" here, let me know. I will also soon be adding a RSS Feed so that you can keep updated through your emails. You can also follow us on Twitter @stjosephnewman.

Please feel free to browse through the site as plenty of new things have been added. We have some new groups popping up in the Groups page, the Events page will always have an up-to-date google calendar and if you ever shop on Amazon.com, please use our link. It is no extra cost to you and the Newman Center will get a percentage of your purchase, an awesome way to donate to Newman. See everyone in a couple of weeks!
